In 1905, Einstein published his theory of relativity. In the tone of Simplified Chinese, he erected another giant milestone in the history of physics. But according to the cultural context he was in, he himself was a milestone. There is a subtle difference here, in a civilized society, everyone is themselves.
What sets the brains of those who delve into deep学问的大脑有何不同之处? On the dissecting table, people have repeatedly studied the mysteries of the human brain, yet in the scholars' brains, there is nothing particularly surprising or different. Their skulls are structurally almost the same as those of farmers.
Thoughts do not come from bloodline and genetics. Family inheritance can勉强let successors inherit power and wealth, and family environment can allow successors to learn experiences and skills, but it is obvious that people do not get their thoughts from their blood.
Where do thoughts come from?
We can divide thoughts into two parts: one is knowledge, and the other is personal methods that each person uses to learn, remember, understand, and apply that knowledge.
At the beginning of the 20th century, various tools for recording thoughts were still represented by paper and pen, books and printing provided industrialized content replication capabilities. Or, during the process of industrialization, the cost of spreading ideas was quietly and significantly reduced. In such a context, we still observed that people reading similar books and newspapers would have entirely different thoughts.
It is obvious, but at this time, few scholars had delved into studying this phenomenon. The Prussian style of education required students to extract the same central idea from the same article, which恰好满足了中国传统文化含蓄的口味, 在千年的伟大文化传承中,不同朝代的学生们学习相同的内容爬向同样愚蠢的集权宝塔。
From the advancements in genetics, it is now unclear whether Empress Dowager Cixi was aware that she had almost uprooted the foundations of the Qing dynasty, leaving only Emperor Guangxu hidden in the cold palace, and there being no suitable crown prince to learn and inherit the experience of Manchu rule over China.
In 1905, China abolished the imperial examination system. Note that this occurred during the late years of Empress Dowager Cixi's rule. Although later Chinese people did not recognize it, in terms of civilization, the last few years of Empress Dowager Cixi were among the fastest progressive periods in Chinese history. Without the iron-fisted control of public opinion, there was no press ban or party ban, local elections appeared for the first time, and even the court planned to draft a constitution.
Unfortunately, three years later, Cixi died a day after Guangxu. Some say she would not have let go until she saw Guangxu die, but Chinese conspiracy theories are not worth exploring. Just from the timing, this sequence deprived the Qing dynasty of the opportunity for a smooth power transition.
The question of whether the Qing dynasty was a colonial regime has long been a taboo in Chinese historiography. If there are numerous taboos in the study of Chinese history, it naturally cannot be considered a scientific subject.
After Cixi, the rulers of China usually did not acknowledge that the final decade of the Qing Dynasty was a more civilized one, free from wars, and with the loss of the imperial examination system due to the suppression of the masses. The rulers were quite低调... But these facts could not prevent later generations of leaders from shoving all sorts of blame onto this period.
The ignorant cannot see the world of thought. Learning to conquer others is the highest thought for savages.
When the theory of relativity was proposed, the Qing Dynasty did not lack communication equipment to communicate with Europe and other places. The Imperial Post Telegraph Bureau under the court had been established as early as 1881, by which time it already had several tens of thousands of kilometers of telegraph lines. Therefore, people could obtain necessary information at that time. Of course, ordinary people generally did not need to study such cutting-edge topics. In general, there are indeed many examples where authoritarian systems have also suppressed wisdom. Unlike China, Japanese scholars began studying the related theories much more quickly.
We must also mention that theology faces this same question: Is God within time?
Before the Meiji Restoration, Japan had not sunk into the centralized autocracy of China's Qin Dynasty. Taking the Tokugawa Shogunate, which ruled for two centuries, as an example, it implemented the "Han System." A han was the fiefdom of a daimyo, and there were 270 hans nationwide. The daimyo had the authority to collect taxes, administer justice and governance, and maintain military power within their own han, and the shogunate did not reduce the power of these han, meaning Japan maintained an actual feudal system. Among many daimyos, the gosaihan (outer vassals) were even competitors of the Tokugawa Shogunate before.
As for China, referring to its old society as a feudal society is due to a misunderstanding of the definition of feudalism. The practice of depriving fiefs through "削藩" (削减诸侯权力) was almost a必备曲目 (required item) in early Chinese history. After the Qin Dynasty, China was not the feudal system described in its historical books, but rather the Qin System, centralization, with local officials appointed by the center. Or one could say that after the Zhou Dynasty, China was no longer feudal, but a form of serfdom under centralization - the Qin System.
Japanese society was divided into four classes under the feudal system: samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The samurai belonged to the "scholars" category. Although this classification was rigid, it did not have the kind of "all is beneath; only reading is exalted" that China had, which used the imperial examination system to destroy ideas and technology and everything else. -- In Liu Zhongjing's terminology: Japanese society was full of bushido (the way of the warrior). -- We could also say in imitation: the imperial examination system extinguished bushido.
From a longer perspective, Japan persisted with the coexistence of the shogunate and the emperor, with the emperor holding the nominal highest position but without actual power, while the shogunate held governance. This was a coexistence of real power and mere formality,勉强算是一种权力制衡, which could be considered a form of checks and balances.
To put it simply, Japan's system reflects that they have upheld moral底线. Structurally, the Japanese society's pyramid is not entirely dominated by a single apex. At the highest level, there are both the Emperor and the Shogun in parallel, and at various regions, there are over two hundred daimyo, even possibly including敌对的「外样大名」.
Chinese people often regard Japan as barbarian little devils, but they fail to notice that Japan's social system is superior to that of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. After the Meiji Restoration, it is even more incomparable.
The greed destroyed morality, and this was directly reflected in the social structure, Degenerate people built a pyramid for themselves, climbing the steps of tyranny and becoming vermin. And these vermin are proud, believing that their system is the greatest.
The two forces of pyramids mechanics are violence and lies, and its resultant effects are dual-sided: destroying human wisdom and morality.
Whether observing Chinese history or comparing Japanese society, the power of the pyramid structure and its corrupting effect on human nature are clear and obvious.
If God does not roll a die, can it still be said that God is omnipotent?
The rivalry among China, Japan, and Russia in East Asia, ultimately chose their own destinies over the course of a century based on their respective virtues and wisdom.
We certainly stayed too long in 1905. However, the issue of the dice needs to be addressed.
During the years when the Western academic world began to surprisingly acknowledge relativity, the moribund Qing Dynasty faced the rising Empire of Japan. However, this was a small period of relative social freedom in Chinese history. In the final years of the Qing Dynasty, people did not need to worry about the court's face, and could openly admire Japan, and directly promote science and democracy.
We might have stayed in 1905 too long.
Half a billion citizens of the Qing Dynasty are half a billion veins ensnared in the trap of centralized power. Yet, no one realizes they are bound by the immense structural force.
If the bloodline does not transmit thoughts, perhaps thoughts are like pollen floating in time and space, and for a brain, when pollen lands on one, that person receives a播种 of thought.
Ignorant people cannot see the world of ideas, Learning from the enemy to control the enemy is thus the highest realm of thought for tribes of cannibals.
After the theory of relativity was proposed, it was found that time begins to slow down as speed approaches the speed of light. Temporarily setting aside the question of whether photons are stationary on the timeline, philosophy immediately had no choice but to return to face an ancient problem: what is time?
We also need to point out that theology faces this issue as well: Does God exist within time?
For example, if someone becomes a dice in God’s hands, can God predict his actions?
In the early twentieth century, during the coexisting timeline with Empress Dowager Cixi and Einstein, consider that this period of time seems not so distant from us, almost too close. As for Jane, her famous saying is: Time is a knife!
Note: Emperor Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixi died that year.
At the time, Ford's cars amazed people, being magical and useful with affordable prices.
The next generation of the ill-informed also fail to see this triangle, but, What has cut off people's basic intelligence? It is precisely them—the great and just individuals who succeeded and climbed up, along with their fellow comrades—who are oblivious to their own nature as worms. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, there were 520 million people; the area of the triangle was 5.2 billion, This is the world in which Chinese people survive; those who climb to the top are the great ones. For a long time, fifty billion bloodlines have been trapped in this lower-dimensional space, Breaking through the spatial barriers is impossible. Remember that the worms cannot see this magnificent triangle.
Return to 1905, those years were the golden age of physics. Together with other physicists, Einstein also helped people glimpse another world: the microscopic quantum world. In this microscopic world, continuity was interrupted, energy played on very small but discontinuous steps.
Newtonian mechanics keeps people thinking in terms of causality, with F=MA. Classical mechanics aligns with the subconscious thoughts of most Chinese people: force is the cause, and effort can change one's fate. In quantum mechanics, however, the concept of probability is widely prevalent.
The odds and probability are the same thing. From the essence of probability, if God were to roll a die, assuming God is omniscient and omnipotent, He should be able to make His dice roll completely random.
But if God does not know what number will come up on the next dice roll, can God still be said to have omniscience?
If God does not throw dice, can we still say that God is omnipotent?
"Einstein once said, 'God does not play dice.'" He was not joking; he was very serious.
We did stay too long in 1905, but the dice issue needs to be looked at.
How many points are on the dice that was thrown? This is a matter of probability. Probability questions hold significant meaning in quantum mechanics, this question creates a chasm, not only do physicists need to ponder God's dice, but theologians as well: if God has a dice, the world would indeed be difficult to predict.
In China, even among those who have supposedly studied science, it seems that agnosticism is regarded as a part of science. Actually, students in the sciences are more likely to overlook the constraints that societal structures place on their thinking. Many of these people unconsciously assume that European scientists were also atheistic, materialistic, and dialectical like themselves. These people do not realize that what was inscribed at the top of the pyramid precisely had to be: blaspheming the gods, fearing power, worshiping objects, suppressing humans, and sophistry.
People do not often wonder why Einstein insisted that God does not play dice. Or, most people are also unaware of why Newton focused on theological studies in his later years.
Scientific breakthroughs certainly challenge theology, and theology can indeed face such challenges. It is not just the most brilliant scholars who venture into this field. Represented by Einstein, these scholars broadened everyone's horizons, and they did not undermine a world supported by both reason and emotion.
According to Chinese traditional culture, these scholars seem powerless to realize that the so-called thoughts and culture they possess have already been trampled into a collection of insignificant awareness among the ignorant masses.
For example, is the law of cause and effect really true? If we replace causality with the probability of a dice roll, can the sense of justice represented by good and evil reciprocating still be maintained?
Or, perhaps our definition of dice is wrong. ...The existence of God should be beyond doubt, awaiting us to expand our meager comprehension.
For example, if a person were to become a die in God's hand, can God then predict his actions?
In 1908, American Ford produced the Model T in his company, T Mobile by Ford. This was the first mass-produced car, and less than twenty years later, over fifteen million were produced, helping to turn America into a nation on wheels.
Note: Guangxu and慈禧both died that year.
At the time, Ford cars amazed people,
At the time, Ford cars amazed people with their magical yet practical features and affordable prices.
The power of industry overwhelmed human civilization, and at the time, few people realized how strongly such a tremendous impact would be. Even those who tried to observe the force of industry could not truly predict how human society would change, as this was an unprecedented technological wave. Industrialization was inevitable, bringing not only miraculous technology and power, but also a comprehensive冲击 on human lifestyles. The religious beliefs and social morals of the old era were like dilapidated houses in a flood, which is why Nietzsche, who passed away five years ago, questioned: "God is dead?" He attempted to rebuild social morals with the concept of the Übermensch's will. The author hopes that people will notice that Nietzsche was a benevolent philosopher; otherwise, it would be impossible for him, who tried to construct the idea of the Übermensch's will, to collapse before a horse.
And scholars have come forward to complicate the issues further, even revealing the secrets of relativity and quantum mechanics, which should only be grasped by gods themselves. Why then believe in God?
During the period of industrialization in Europe, coal miners, covered in soot, no longer went to church, and those who learned science ceased to believe in Jesus's miracles. Eventually, after the大战后 reconstruction in society, religion and scientific technology managed to find a艰难共同 evolution. However, the scholars among the people made foolish by Emperor Qin failed to see that the story of Jesus being crucified on a wooden cross did not contradict science.
During the construction of social morals, if it still needs to conform to human logic, God is a necessary symbol that must exist. This symbol, whether referred to as GOD or God, has the same meaning. No matter which language or writing system is used, once this text begins its ascent on the steps of logical thinking, God is an inevitable existence and cannot be replaced by anyone. In such a situation, since humanity has come to recognize the existence of God, the role of Jesus as a redeemer in human form who was killed by his own kind does not violate science at all. Moreover, this role provides a foundation for the construction of pure logic and reason, and naturally serves as a cornerstone for preserving human sentiment and nature.
For Nietzsche's "God is dead,"
it is more often misused by ignorant scholars.
The Nazis also wished to incorporate Nietzsche's philosophy into their theories,
which was two decades later...
If we have even a fraction of insight that seems superior to Nietzsche's, it is only because we were born in the subsequent century. During this period, human civilization has developed in all aspects, and many clever people have already extensively studied the fields Nietzsche expanded upon, including philosophy, theology, sociology, and psychology.
A historical note cannot remain static at a single point in time;
a student who fails to see the whole history will have a fragmented understanding of human civilization.
Similarly, a geography teacher should not waste students' time memorizing local place names from the start;
instead, they should first present world maps to their students.
Thus, we specifically highlight Nietzsche's wisdom and believe he did not intend for future generations to be ensnared by it.
On the contrary, he was drowned out by the wave of industrialization.
This fact is clear in this author’s time, 2023.
But the crawlers and their scholars fail to understand all of this. They believe they are in the same era, yet they have no realization that they have not embarked on the path of human civilization but instead are going in the opposite direction, as different as chalk and cheese.
They do not know themselves to be akin to ancient human species from prehistoric times, much like the chimpanzees still living in Africa.
They fail to comprehend what civilization is and think they can steal it all. But little do they know that on this path are milestones that require reverence.
Three thousand years ago, they did not know that Moses had long since surpassed them; two thousand years ago, they did not realize that Jesus had also far outstripped them. They did not know that by the year 300 AD, Roman cathedrals had already surpassed them, and in the 12th and 13th centuries, the Magna Carta of England had done the same. They did not know that Martin Luther in the 16th century had also far outpaced them. And they have no idea about all that followed the Renaissance: art, technology, science, faith, free will, human rights...
Each and every surpassing was a distance that the crawlers could never catch up to, a vast chasm that they were long ago left behind. Now, just as with the Native Americans, what the crawlers can comprehend is only industrialized weapons.
They believed, like the people of the Shang Dynasty, that "sacrifice brings回报," so they were always willing to make any sacrifice.
We can understand that scholars from the late Qing Dynasty did not understand human history, but it is not a matter of mere intellect that, a century later, scholars within the centralized triangle continue to almost universally propagate the dreams of the chimpanzee family.
From the perspective of historiography, it is not about the disgraceful history in Chinese history. In genuine historiography, there are both religious texts and scientific works. All this naturally appears in human history, wherein science should never contradict faith, and technology should never conflict with society initially. Those who believe they do is merely ignorant, or perhaps history does not take into account their comprehension abilities.
If God has a book about the entire world, why can't this book include human history and science? Clearly, there is the Bible as well as science in this book, and humanity has not yet read all its chapters. Every day brings new content, but no one can keep reading indefinitely.
The author believes that gospel writers in the Bible saw this book— Spinoza also did. As a mathematician will say within ten years: That book, that book. Another proof, another proof. Paul Erdos (1913-1996), though he called himself an agnostic atheist.
However, in the grand hall of history, it cannot be denied that, Chinese history is also a part of human history, although it has become rather uncivilized. People in this society竟然始终未能数清楚死者的数量, and have not at all realized the functional deficiencies of such a massive social entity, and did not realize it for a century afterward. Looking back from 2023 on the years of relativity and the appearance of Ford cars is truly baffling, those were also the times when Emperor Guangxu and Empress Dowager Cixi died. A hundred years later, as someone who uses simplified Chinese, the author feels deeply ashamed. Indeed, human history includes this ugly and massive centralized triangle, which tries to occupy a larger position in multidimensional historical space, but it is merely a two-dimensional object, even constantly bowing down and kowtowing to one-dimensional power. Its most sophisticated voice can only be: Learn from the West to control the West! Rise Again! What science, what productivity! Made in China overtakes on the curve, far ahead... And it still maintains the characteristics of a low-dimensional space, stupid and cruel, filthy and blood-soaked, base and greedy but self-important, yet can never count the number of dead.
If readers understand the geometric structure of this society, then deriving this theorem is simple: In the autocratic triangle, they count the countless dead.
Therefore, we say that a totalitarian triangle with just one savage power vertex is the opposite of civilization.
In 1908, when Ford began mass-producing the Model T, the Meiji Restoration in Japan had already been ongoing for forty years. At that time, Emperor Meiji Yoshihito was the 122nd emperor in Japanese history, and this year was the Meiji 41st Year in Japan. Japan completely rewrote the history of the Pacific at that time.
As industrialization swept the globe, it acted as a filter for civilizations— societies that retained wisdom and morality could more easily adapt to new challenges. However, industrialization didn't just lead humans towards civilization faster— the impact of weaponized industry extended far beyond wars like the Russo-Japanese War or the First Sino-Japanese War, just in Asia. It was much more profound than what happened on European battlefields.
At that time, rifles were rifled long-barreled bolt-action firearms: British Lee-Enfield Mk I/II, Lee-Metford MkI/II, German Mauser Gewehr 98, American Springfield M1903, Japanese Arisaka Type 38.
Culture in China seems to be filled with falsity, from the official to the folk customs. In academic classics like "Dream of the Red Chamber," to the sword, hailed as the top weapon among literary pretenders, everywhere one finds an attempt to present the fake as real and the real as fake. There is almost no courage to face reality directly and simply.
The one who killed the most Chinese people was not Japan. Although Japan defeated the Qing and earlier also defeated Tsarist Russia.
The silver taken from Empress Dowager Cixi by Japanese soldiers in 1895 would have been enough for the Emperor to significantly improve the lives of every Japanese citizen. After the victory in the First Sino-Japanese War, the indemnity alone was nearly enough to give each Japanese person about five taels of silver, regardless of gender or age, with an average distribution per person if the Emperor wished. What could five taels of silver from those times accomplish!
If Empress Dowager Cixi had been sent as a prostitute to Japan, the Japanese would certainly not have agreed, because keeping her in China as a ruler was like having a personal ATM for all the Japanese people at that time. There were no ATMs back then, but there were printing presses.
From an ATM perspective, Japan could appreciate Empress Dowager Cixi. Prostitutes are not often called "chickens" in Chinese, but if she had really become one, her contributions to China would have been as great as a chicken's: both eggs and meat. Instead of the Chinese being harmed to such an extent that it cannot be described in Chinese.
Out of respect for women, we should not insult Empress Dowager Cixi. She is no worse than her contemporaries who ruled, and she did not alter history to her own advantage. Thus, she is more open and honest than many men who came after her. But the number of casualties is our nearly sole criterion, not gender. Not only should politically powerful figures be subject to rigorous criticism, but we must make the men who will become Emperor Guangxu understand: In true historiography, time is not a one-way street; posterity will keep coming back and dissecting you with language that you have emasculated.
We look back at this history in 1908 when Ford was mass-producing cars. At that time, on both ends of Eurasia, industrialization was led by island nations: Britain to the west and Japan to the east. This might not be a mere coincidence; it suggests that continents had become corrupt during the agricultural era, in their national histories, and in wars. It indicates that the brutality and violence of people on the continent left no refuge for neighbors. Only by leaving the continent did one have better opportunities, such as in these two island nations—Britain and Japan. Large enough islands allowed people to begin agriculture; the vast seas provided an opportunity not to be confined to farming, protecting them from foreign invasions. Accessible continents enabled learning, ultimately forming independent yet inclusive mindsets.
When the industrial wave swept the globe, it was like a civilization filter: societies that retained wisdom and morality could more quickly turn to new challenges. However, the power of industrialization did not merely hasten the march toward civilization for humanity; the transformations brought about by weapon industrialization were not limited to the Russo-Japanese War or the Jia Wu Naval Battle, but this was just in Asia; it was far from the European heartland.
At that time, rifles were rifled long-barreled bolt-action firearms: British Lee-Enfield Mk I/II, Lee-Metford MkI/II, German Mauser Gewehr 98, American Springfield M1903, Japanese Arisaka Type 38.
Machine guns are commonly equipped to suppress large numbers of infantry, while artillery fires larger shells. Sailboats evolved into giant ironclad battleships, and submarines also appeared. Moreover, all these could be rapidly and mass-produced.
When the United Kingdom built a new steam armoured battleship, known as the Dreadnought, two years ago (in 1906), it was given a new term: the Dreadnought class. HMS Dreadnought had 12-inch caliber guns, traveled at 24 knots, and displaced 18,000 tons. This monster could sink all sail warships of its time, racing across the sea, dividing naval battle history into two eras: before the Dreadnought and after the Dreadnought.
However, other countries soon built similar warships, which was unimaginable shipbuilding speed in the era of sailing ship naval battles. This is the weapon production capacity brought about by industrialized productivity. And the Asians could no longer understand the methods of modern naval warfare on such a battlefield, where soldiers lost the opportunity to slash at enemy troops with broadswords, and had to hit enemy warships seen through telescopes with artillery.
The first dreadnought of Britain was scrapped as scrap metal after just fifteen years of service, imagine the speed at which weapons were iterating back then.
Still in 1908, This was the year when compulsory education was implemented in Virginia, USA. The US states did not enter into compulsory education simultaneously; Massachusetts began mandatory education as early as 1852. Japan started popularizing education in 1872, while the UK did not begin compulsory education until 1880.
Prussian-style cramming can produce a large number of lower-level officials, where officers are few for soldiers, but for the ruling class, lower-level officers constitute a vast underclass.
The education system is also similar to a Ford production line, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3... Going through these stages step by step, people assume that students are gradually approaching the finished product.
In an authoritarian country, so-called compulsory education becomes a tool in the rulers' hands—coercive education. The content of education is set by the rulers, specifically training children to become masochists who accept autocracy. And in places like the中共国, parents unwittingly spend a lot of money accelerating their children's evolution into parasites.
Compulsory education turns learning into a child's obligation, gradually suppressing their innate nature, keeping them seated and merely passively receiving the dictator's control. As students gradually become finished products on the conveyor belt of education, they approach the final shipment point. By this time, they remember inverted history, cannot distinguish beauty from ugliness, lose logical human reasoning, and naturally cannot discern right from wrong. Then, they are dumped somewhere atop the pyramid to join the real arachnid society.
Science and engineering provide schools with a vast array of textbooks, most scientific knowledge is from the past century; humanities knowledge focuses on textual history, which covers content within three millennia. This content has been细化 into an extensive system, leaving scholars unable to exhaust it all, yet they do not teach methods for human survival that occurred before the advent of writing. If textbooks assume a background of equality, freedom, and fraternity, the educational system's production line becomes a conveyor belt of fake angels. Moreover, humanities knowledge does not correctly discuss social realities such as power, wealth, and desire; instead, it adds numerous falsehoods, embedding emotional response patterns in students' minds. Thus, when graduates leave school, it is akin to the production line spewing out batches of counterfeit angels into reality. They will be repeatedly beaten by the iron fist of societal reality and re-educated, thrown naked into a nest of reptiles until they come to understand 'strive for progress' and find their path, of course, only by crawling.
The population is increasing, so education has had to become industrialized. Parents, under the guise of love, supply the raw materials for this production line.
This is the story of China at the end of the century under the Communist Party of China, sorry for the interruption. Let's go back to the Qing Dynasty, at that time, the territory of the Qing Dynasty was 13 million square kilometers, an area far beyond what its later rulers could have envisioned.
In 1911, the population was 1.78 billion, with Asia having 0.93 billion and Europe 0.33 billion.
On October 10 of that year, the New Army in Wuhan rose up, which is historically known as the Wuchang Uprising. Two days later, they occupied Hankyang and Hankou, that is, the three towns of Wuhan, and then announced the establishment of the Hubei Military Government, appointing Li Yuanhong as Commander-in-Chief and severing ties with the Qing government.
This event was triggered by the railway protection movement in provinces like Sichuan during that summer. When the army went to suppress the railway protection movement, the soldiers mutinied en masse in their rear camps. The court's previous attempt to nationalize these provincial railways funded by private investments now appears to have been self-defeating, as money was lost and lives were sacrificed. Within just two months, fifteen provinces successively responded to the Wuchang Uprising, declaring independence from the court. Revolutionary parties and revolutionary armies emerged everywhere, without a clear leader.
Four days after the Wuchang Uprising on October 10, in accordance with imperial orders, Yuan Shikai was dispatched to mediate the chaos. His idea was to establish a constitutional monarchy and form a cabinet; at that time, northern regions south of the Yangtze River had not yet fallen under control. On November 1, Hankou was retaken, and by November 27, Huayang was also recovered.
Sun Yat-sen then arrived in Shanghai from the United States (via Hawaii?) on December 20th via Hong Kong, was elected as the provisional president with 16 votes on the 28th, while Huang Xing, who had just lost Hanyang, got one vote. This directly established a republic, and also intensified the confrontation between the north and south. The national fortune and state system truly saw a cacophony of change after another. Soon, Sun Yat-sen proposed another suggestion: if the Qing emperor abdicated, he would resign.
Yuan Shikai turned to negotiate with the court, the young emperor even rarely had anyone executed. Sun Yat-sen announced his assumption of office on January 1, 1912. Two months later, on February 12, the Qing Emperor issued a decree abdicating his throne. At that time, it seemed that Yuan Shikai had kept the Forbidden City for the Manchu imperial family. However, overall, it was like the wall finally collapsed with everyone pushing from behind—it fell rather easily in the end. The next day, Sun Yat-sen resigned as the provisional president and handed over to Yuan Shikai.
The Xinhai Revolution overthrew the Qing Dynasty, the term "overthrew" was later agreed upon by the Kuomintang and Communist Party. At that time, people did not commonly refer to it as the "Xinhai Revolution"; it was generally called the Wuchang Uprising. Under the backdrop of Western powers dominating at the time, without counting the long experience from the Opium War, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the First Sino-Japanese War, right up to the Boxer Rebellion and the Eight-Nation Alliance, this was a dynasty that ended with the lowest number of deaths for the Chinese people.
Translation: The Qing emperor's abdication decree was not taken seriously by many. The traditional practice of foot-binding in China gradually stopped after a thousand years.
The civilization of the spider-like beings is hard to be anything substantial, their proud cultural content often consists of cynical monks, corrupt doctors, and poisonous healers. These trash are what the spider-like beings take pride in as their civilization.
Translation: Despite low literacy rates and high illiteracy among the population, limited exposure to foreign knowledge allowed for some interaction with advanced societies via European concessions. In this period, China was close to civilization, as debates on science and democracy versus ignorance and servitude could be openly discussed before the Qing government's inability to stop historical progress.
Translation: The custom of binding women's feet had largely stopped by 1912 after a millennium of practice.
The species that offers blood sacrifices does not like the coastline, as sacrifices are likely to escape there.
At the time, the geopolitical situation in East Asia saw Japan and Russia/Soviet Union competing for dominance. The historical outcome was that the Soviet Union achieved the final victory, entering the Cold War as a战胜国 after the Allies' victory in 1945, while Japan, after its devastating defeat, turned away from militarism to rebuild democratic politics.
Translation: During Emperor Meiji's funeral in 1912, General Nogi Maresuke committed seppuku. He and his wife had privately done so despite the emperor's ban on this practice. Japan retained feudal traditions while learning Western culture, akin to carrying a double burden.
The evil habit of Chinese men breaking and playing with women's foot soles has gradually stopped, a tradition that lasted for thousands of years.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, in the early years of the twentieth century, there were no widespread peasant uprisings breaking out across the land, nor was there a hundred-thousand-person bloodbath of civil war. The Manchu royal family ruled for nearly three centuries and essentially ended the Qing Dynasty through negotiations, which is unprecedented in Chinese history.
Despite low literacy rates and high illiteracy, as well as limited coverage of newspapers and journals, the presence of concessions in various European countries gave Chinese people the opportunity to communicate with the entire advanced world.
People at the end of the Qing Dynasty were close to a civilized society,
during which scientific and democratic ideas could openly debate with ignorance and oppression without the Qing government being able to effectively obstruct the tide of history.
Translation: On July 30, 1912, Emperor Meiji of Japan died. During his funeral, General Nogi Maresuke committed seppuku with his wife; they had done so privately despite the emperor's ban on this practice. Japan retained feudal traditions while learning Western culture, as if shouldering a double burden.
Translation: In August 1912, Song Jiaoren founded the Kuomintang. In February 1913, his party won China’s first parliamentary elections. However, in March of that year, he was assassinated.
From the Japanese perspective, Sun Yat-sen began to betray his supporters. From the historical and political systems of the United States and Europe, the Three Principles of the People and the Five-Power Constitution seem like邯郸学步and 画蛇添足. In China, unity and revolution do not appear contradictory. Later, Sun Yat-sen's alliance with Russia and cooperation with the Communist Party during the Northern Expedition was no better than Yuan Shikai's imperial ambitions, with many in the Kuomintang having studied in Japan and later receiving substantial assistance from the United States, ultimately being defeated by Japan, the Soviet Union, and the Communist Party of China, and abandoned by the United States. If the Kuomintang had instead focused on education, it might have been better, but it became militarized and politicized, aspiring to interfere with the unity of the country, unwilling to relinquish the territories of the Qing Dynasty while still raising the banners of democracy and freedom, and its ultimate fate as a homeless dog is understandable.
Sun Yat-sen was a historical figure who ultimately turned to Moscow, he had revolutionary fervor, but historically speaking, he lacked knowledge in historical and humanistic aspects, thus he was eventually manipulated by Lenin, Stalin, and the Communist International. As a result, China's situation changed, and it fell under the will of the Soviet Union.
The concept of five-power separation is a misunderstanding of the three-power separation. Five-power separation advocates adding examination authority and supervisory authority to the traditional three powers (executive, legislative, judiciary). However, the three-power separation is a legal system concept, with its historical path being the check between power and ecclesiastical power in Europe. Europe built cathedrals after AD 0, having a long-standing theological tradition. Therefore, any European society has two forces of checks and balances, a situation that does not exist in the minds of Chinese scholars, making it difficult to establish corresponding concepts.
The term "separation of powers" is one that we have mentioned multiple times.
This concept was proposed by the Enlightenment philosopher John Locke in his work "Two Treatises of Government,"
while French philosopher Montesquieu is more renowned for his advocacy of separation of powers (Latin: trias politica).
Generally, it refers to the division of governmental power into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial.
In England at that time, the monarch (or royal leader) was responsible for administration,
but could not violate laws enacted by Parliament; otherwise, the state had the right to replace the king.
The emergence of the trias politica clearly had its historical and social foundations, and was not a direct or spontaneous occurrence in any arbitrary society. The historical basis for the appearance of the trias politica in Europe is that it did not have a unified empire, like that established by Qin Shi Huang, thus allowing for comparative and competitive thoughts and cultures among various nations. At the same time, after the 5th century AD, political power and ecclesiastical power began to be separated and checked within each European country. That is to say, there was already a foundation of power separation before it evolved into the trias politica. The trias politica did not emphasize religious freedom, but clearly, the power of religion had existed independently and continued to do so thereafter. This is because Europeans were already accustomed to the existence of churches and ecclesiastical authority, which was like air and oxygen—so naturally, it was not deemed necessary as a前提条件 (prerequisite condition) to be explicitly mentioned.
During the European Religious Revolution, the Renaissance found ancient Roman laws and jurisprudence. Simultaneously, after the Thirty Years' War, a society with separation of church and state began to gradually take shape. Separation of church and state did not happen on its own; it required a third pillar: well-developed law. Without legal support, church and state could not be separated; without fair laws, either the government/royalty would crush the church, or the church would crush the government.
The separation of powers within the legal system refers to the division between legislation, judiciary, and law enforcement/administration. Legislation involves drafting and amending laws. The judiciary refers to the court system with the power to hear cases and render judgments, law enforcement refers to police having the ability to carry out the rulings of the courts.
The separation of powers under the law was a process that began after the European Renaissance, when humanistic enlightenment had taken hold, and the legal system derived from ancient Roman Twelve Tables had been re-examined. The European legal environment became more civilized. Then, two countervailing forces in society—royal power and ecclesiastical authority—were separated, and the legal system between them also achieved a separation of powers.
For the aforementioned historical progress, Chinese scholars above had no understanding capability, because there was no foundation of religion and theology in Chinese history. After Qin Shi Huang unified writing, the thoughts of scholars were confined within characters, and these people could not imagine the social role of religion or understand the status of religious sanctuaries. So-called great scholars and sages did not have the concept of ecclesiastical power or canon law.
This is reflected in Sun Yat-sen's use of the Five-Power Constitution to swiftly surpass what might be a "potentially backward Three-Power Constitution."
Note: The Catholic Church has a papal system and historically had a seven-tier clerical structure, which developed into a powerful pyramid of authority sufficient to challenge European monarchies in the Middle Ages, but now it has been simplified to three tiers. The Catholic clergy are fundamentally different from Communist Party officials. The canon law and specific details of the Catholic Church are publicly available; please refer to them if needed.
人类史上 杀人最多的从来都是 爬上去穿上皇袍的强盗土匪流氓恶棍们, 不是什么冰霜雨雪风雷电, 也不是猛兽毒蛇; 杀人最多的是权力,是国王和皇帝,是国家, 骗人最多的是老师和专家, 是这些人把史书写成了秽史; 屠杀是它们搞的, 朱门酒肉臭路有冻死骨的社会是它们的乐园;
Humans have always been killed by robbers, bandits, rascals, and scoundrels who climbed to power and donned the imperial robe, not by ice, frost, rain, snow, wind, lightning, or thunder, nor by fierce beasts or venomous snakes; the ones who kill the most are power, kings, emperors, and nations. The ones who deceive the most are teachers and experts; it is these people who have written history as a sordid record; massacres were carried out by them, and the society where opulent homes feast on fine foods while roads are dotted with frozen bones was their paradise.
In Europe, although the church also built a pyramid structure of ecclesiastical power, it formed a historical force that opposed royal authority. Churches and parishes provided havens for ordinary people, and the church protected the poor from being devoured by military conspiracies. The foundation of doctrine and canon law are the Gospels of the Bible, which contain both theological concepts and humanistic ideas.
The Gospels were written in plain language, but two thousand years after the book came into the Chinese cultural circle, it still makes students think that this is a forbidden book of evil, as if everything in the book describes ways to eat people and children. Although it's reversing right and wrong, it can be considered normal basic operations in the cannibal circle. The Gospels are much thinner than Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, or Dream of the Red Chamber, can't you just go read them for yourself?
Not talking about the essence of Chinese characters in terms of their language, let's talk about what the script itself can't learn—what kind of symbol system are Chinese characters? Chinese characters seem unaware that they are a text system drenched in blood, unaware that oracle bones were a collection of totemic symbols for sacrificial and bloody rituals.
These crawlers insist that the Nanjing Treaty is a treaty of humiliation, so let's read the first article directly to the people: The safety of the lives and property of both countries should be guaranteed. What humiliation is there in this?
No shame was worthy of being told to the people for two hundred years after the signing, it is not allowing the people to know the truth.
Return to the historical timeline.
At this time, the First World War was about to break out in Europe, with the industrial powers except Japan withdrawing their strength to Europe.
Youtube :
This segment of European history has been studied in great detail, with mountains of literature. The changes in the European map have also been made into animated films, accompanied by concise explanations, making history easier to watch. For example, there is a YouTube video that is about an hour long:
World War One (All parts), by Epic History TV.
World War One (All parts), by Epic History TV.
From the English Channel to the Mediterranean, from Sarajevo to Berlin, armies and weapons gathering, countless lives lost, nations shattered, royal families retiring. These stories have been well written by people, and some authors are unwilling to waste their time on them.
For Chinese users, by avoiding the histories of the Kuomintang and Communist parties, they also avoid a considerable amount of sordid history.
The First World War had not yet broken out, and the Qing Dynasty was already exiting the stage. This does not seem worth regretting, as there were few officials in court who understood Europe. However, this is clearly the mindset of a historical reader. Time kept its own pace at that time, one hour with sixty minutes, one minute with sixty seconds. Miracles did not arrive earlier. For those who were oppressed, this meant that their suffering would not end any sooner.
Similarly, At the time, people on China's political stage were not aware of the coercive power of historical惯性. Two thousand years of autocracy had deeply harmed the capacity for Chinese thinking. Sun Yat-sen and Yuan Shikai neither realized that they were involuntarily climbing to the top, nor would Beiyang military officers and Kuomintang see a massive pyramid of centralization. The desire for great unification was embedded in everyone's subconscious on this tower. Expelling the Tartars but then eating leftovers from the Manchu royal family is not a good metaphor; such a concept already exists in Chinese culture with the wisdom of "食无语" (eat without speaking).
The native industrial strength came from Europe, the steam engine was not invented by Watt, the metalworking skills required to make a steam engine are not something one person could handle, not to mention the complex principles of thermodynamics. However, in Britain, Watt's company sold thousands upon hundreds of improved machines.
For centuries, Britain continuously interfered in Europe, one of the purposes being to maintain a balance of power among European nations. Europe is not a unified power pyramid, of course, and it is not solely due to British efforts; more so, it is the result of cultural and historical developments within the same geopolitical arena where various European countries are situated.
Now, Britain remains a maritime power, but in the past century until the early 20th century, its foreign policy was戏称为 'Splendid Isolation'. This meant avoiding permanent alliance relationships with any continental European countries. English-speaking nations such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand were more civilized societies, and English, as a language spoken by multiple countries, has spread across the world map to show that the countries using this language no longer have the opportunity to construct a single pyramid, although most English-speaking countries were still British colonies.
Colonization and hegemony are thoroughly tainted in Chinese. China's literati have long been intellectually feeble and despicable, causing endless harm, This is a language only slave masters would use.
Jesus is not British, and the Bible was not originally written in English, but the King James Version (KJV) of the English Bible has become a standard nonetheless.
In the four decades when Prussia finally unified Germany, Bismarck (Chancellor) devised foreign policies to align with Russia to contain France. After that, Germany's industries rapidly developed, making it a European power. Under the influence of the 'Sea Power Theory,' Germany and Britain engaged in naval armament competition, and due to geographical factors, also competed with Russia and France in land armaments. Later, the Iron Chancellor stepped down, causing cracks in Germany's diplomatic alliances.
Jonathan Steinberg says of Bismarck's achievements ...
Century later, the head of the history department at the University of Pennsylvania evaluated this prime minister who altered the European order: Alone he changed the European order... He said what had to be done and how it would be done, and he did it... He lacked the authority to command an army, did not control a great party, had no public support, instead people opposed him, did not secure a parliamentary majority, did not dominate the cabinet, and had no royal backing... Yet he defeated all of them alone. Jonathan Steinberg says of Bismarck's achievements...
At the time, there were no satellite maps, and the borders of Eastern European countries were very different from those today. To the east of Germany was Russia, and southeast of it was the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The west of the Austro-Hungarian Empire bordered the Adriatic Sea and Italy, to its east was Russia and the Ottoman Empire, and to its south was a smaller country, Serbia.
Today's names in Jianzhong: Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, are all countries formed after the maps were fragmented during the two world wars.
